An amphitheater neighboring Los Angeles, California, Hollywood Bowl has been a premier destination for live music since 1922. Being an ideal destination for concerts, shows, and events in the Southern California, it has been named as one of the 10 best live music avenues by the Rolling Magazine in the year 2018. The amphitheater is carved into a concave hillside which is referred to as “bowl”. Owned by County of Los Angeles, California, it has a capacity of 17,500 people at a time. It is the summer home of the Philharmonic of Los Angeles, home of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and a host of numerous music events each year.

How to get there?

Located at 2301 North Highland Avenue, the bowl has limited parking and therefore it is recommended to use one of the Park & Ride locations or five Shuttle Bus lots. For those who wish to drive themselves, it is recommended to reach one hour before the beginning of the concert in order to find parking and get to your seats before the show commences.

How to purchase tickets?

The ticket prices vary from as low as $1 for the bench seats on most nights. Box seats at front of the house can cost you up to $100.

Seating Options

Hollywood Bowl is a fun place to be, with a number of shows and attractions for all age groups. The venue hosts several dozen shows through the year and hence there is always something for everyone. There are basically three types of seating at the Hollywood Bowl:

1. Box Seats- Surrounded by wooden partitions, in the group of 4-6 chairs, the box seats are the canvas –covered collapsible chairs.

2. Super Seats- Set in the center of the audience with built-in cup holders, super seats are the stadium-style seats.

3. Bench Seats- These seats start right next to the terrace boxes, going back all the way to the theatre’s back.

However, an up close and personal experience is provided by the large video screens, irrespective of where you sit.

Is Hollywood Bowl Kid friendly?

Hollywood Bowl prescribes no minimum age for admittance, but many evening concerts are not available for young children. The children aged 2 or above must take up a ticket for entering the theatre; sit in the seat as indicated in the ticket and should maintain silence throughout the concert. However, the children below 2 years of age need not buy a ticket. Further, the management may require checking the baby carrying devices to be checked at the Operations Office.

What can you carry to the Bowl?

One may bring own food and drinks to the Bowl. However, large picnic baskets and containers are not permitted past the ticket gate. Neither kegs of any kind, nor are weapons allowed inside the Bowl. The electronic items like laptops, computers or tablets are permissible inside the Bowl as long as they do not interfere in the enjoyment of the other people at the concert.

Dress right

It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes to navigate the grounds of the Hollywood Bowl and in addition to this, one must bring a light jacket or a blanket in case it turns chilly in the evening.
